BUILDINGS AND GROUNDS

The Livslust-Dzivesprieks School is situated in Aizupe about 120 kilometres in the countryside west of Riga in Vanes district in the Tukums region.

Main building
Here we have the accommodations, the lounge areas, the kitchen, the dining room, the offices, a class room, a computer room and there is also a café located in this building. The house is beautifully situated in a garden, the kind you normally see in parks. In 1994, the building was used as a TB hospital. It was in a bad condition with dry privies inside the house and tiled stoves. We have renovated the house from scratch. Construction project, construction work and management, building materials, tools, machinery and equipment, such as furniture, were donated by companies, organisations, foundations and private persons.

Carpentry
This is an old beautiful farm building of stone, which we have remodelled into a well-equipped carpentry for training and manufacturing.

Sewing workshop
The house consists of four barracks which have been joined together. Here we conduct training and manufacturing with the help of professional equipment.

"The blue house"
A building we have constructed after the take over of the property. Here are storage rooms for potatoes and vegetables and a repair shop for cars and farm machinery. There is also a workshop for welding and one for metalwork as well as a class room.

Farm building
This building is located in the neighbouring village where we have storage rooms for agricultural products and room for farming machinery.

Greenhouse
A simple greenhouse covered with plastic sheets where we grow tomatoes and cucumbers.

Agricultural land
Livslust owns and also leases almost 300 hectares for growing crops, rape, peas and potatoes.

Sports field
A tarmac area for basketball and other ball games during summer, and during winter used for ice hockey and ice skating.
