INDIVIDUAL APPROACH
We want our students to obtain the knowledge and the self-confidence necessary to manage in society. The vocational training together with the individually adjusted personal training results in an increased self-confidence. Most of the students at Livslust-Dzivesprieks have been brought up in the unstable environments of orphanages or school institutions, where often it is a question of "the survival of the fittest" and it is hard for the individual to compete. Others come from underprivileged families, often marked by drinking problems and violence. In such an environment the children cannot develop the necessary social skills. A big problem is that they do not trust anybody, especially when it comes to adults.
Livslust-Dzivesprieks's social pedagogues work with the students both on a one-to-one basis, as well as in groups with the aim of finding out the specific qualities, talents and situations for each and every one of the students. Some children have very traumatic experiences, and are in need of more far-reaching treatment. In such cases, externally recruited psycho-therapists are called in for consultation.
