WHO ARE TH STUDENTS AT LIVSLUST-DZIVESPRIEKS?

We have room for 38 pupils who stay at the school and in addition we can take in 5-10 day-pupils from the neighbourhood. We accept boys and girls from all over Latvia. When they come they are between 15-18 years of age. The pupils are of  four categories:

   1. Orphans, who have spent whole or parts of their lives in
       institutions.

   2. Socially orphaned youngsters, whose parents have lost
custody of them either due to alcohol or drug abuse, poverty
or criminality, or for all three reasons.

   3. Children from dysfunctional families, with parents who cannot
provide any normal parental support due to poverty,
       sickness, criminality and/or alcoholism.

Youngsters from category 1,2 and 3 live at the school
during the rehabilitation and study period.

   4. Young people from poor local families. Livslust-Dzivesprieks
is situated in the countryside, where many families live under
hard social conditions. Often, there are many children in
each family and the parents are usually very poor. We offer
teenagers from such families in the neighbourhood
vocational training, meals and to participate in all the
activities arranged by the school. The condition is that they
       sleep the night at home.
